Make payments

Hey everyone, please make your HBDC payments as soon as you can! We
are reserving the group site today. The max capacity is 72 people, so
invite anyone you know, just make sure they know that it's $100.

Payments are due in full by August 1st, but we need everyone to pay at
least $40 by the end of June.

The reason I'm asking right now is that we are about to cough up a lot
of money soon for this group site.

All you have to do is either mail a check to Ross Gay and send it to
371 26th Ave, Santa Cruz, CA or just paypal the money to
hbdcpayments@paypal.com

If you pay with Paypal, make sure to pay an extra $2 for every payment
you send (that's an incentive to pay all at once ;-), think of all the
$2 bills you could hold on to!). That will offset the Paypal fees.

The other cool option is to come visit us here, you know the address.
The phone number is 831-475-4405, bring us da money!

One hell of an official post!

In this post:
1. The Dates Are Set
2. Your ideas pleas! (I know I spelled it wrong, as a pun)
3. Transportation
4. Time off
5. Your Mailing address

Hey buddies!

It has been a week since my last email and I'm sure you have been counting the days.  Have no fear, I'm back for my weekly blogio address.  Jay Kay.

1. The dates for HBDC are set!  They are Friday August 14th through Monday August 17th. I should also mention that there will be a group of people going to the campsite the day before on August 13th, to do setup.  All are invited to this preliminary party.  I want to make sure that anyone sitting around bored waiting for HBDC will know that they can come a day early.  The catch is, you have to help set up, and there won't be any "fun" until we settle down that night for a long Summer's Party.  Oh, but we'll totally swim that day.

2. This week I want to talk about HELP!  It was perhaps the Beatles second most popular album.  And it just happens to be the same title as what HBDC needs right now, from you!

If anyone has any ideas of what kind of supplies you think we need at HBDC, let me have 'em.  Your input will be awesome, whether you have faith in your idea or not, we need ideas of supplies and entertainment.  So go ahead, don't be afraid, what types of beer, what types of food (especially for guest cooks).  And, on that note, if anyone has any food allergies, you need to speak up, and speak loud.  We don't want anyone passin' out at camp out.  Would you like boats every day or just one day?  Would you NOT like squirt guns this year?  Just give us some goddam feedback, hahaha!

3. One of the most important factors for HBDC3 is your mode of transportation. Seriously people, carpool, "When you ride alone, you ride with Hitler".  So, we need to start creating a carpool/rideshare group.  If anyone has any experience collaborating on something this complex, we could use your help, considering my tiny brain can't even handle a simple spreadsheet about the number of boys brought to the yard by said "milkshake".  To be perfectly clear, once again, we need a transportation plan, and your help will be appreciated.  Oh, and I forgot to mention, last year we almost spent $100 on paying for parking for everyone.  That was our fault yes, but we are going to the same place, and we need to consolidate the number of vehicles to that which is absolutely necessary.  Oh, and whoever comes forward to organize this transportation blog, or email or whatever, will have the option of petitioning HBDC funds for a van, with a stereo. That's right, a party from the starty, vanpool from Woodland to HBDC this time!

4. Time Off:  I will say it one more time, Time Off.  Other phrases for it are: vacation, paid vacation, sick days, disabled, unemployed, AWOL.  Do what you have to do to get the time off, because these dates are solid. Lie, cheat, steal. All will be washed away upon your arrival. Once again the dates for HBDC3 are August 14th to August 17th; Friday through Monday.  These dates are now official.  We want to make sure that you can be at HBDC3 because we love you and need you to be there for this to be a damn good time!  And ya know, dishes n stuff... they don't do themselves do they?

5. Finally, I need every members mailing address.  If you do only one thing because of this post, let it be that you emailed me your mailing address.  Send your contact information to hbdcinfo@gmail.com.  I am sending a separate email about this so you probably won't miss it.  I need name, address, phone number, email, emergency contact, blood type and social (just kidding about blood and social) and the names and email addresses of any guests you plan to bring.  If you give me their email now, I can help you convince them to come!

On a random note, the CD mixes last time were really fun, so make some mixes to share if you want, that would be really cool. Then we can all share... stuff...

Alright, here comes Spring, don't forget to put your clock forward one hour this Saturday night!

Hey Buddy!

Payment Shenanigans!

Hola HBDC!

I have a camcorder that I got for graduation last year. I think I can bring that, but I haven't figured out how to transfer video from the DVD's to AVI or MPG files yet. I will bring it though. Can someone bring a laptop? We can keep it safe and use my blackberry as a modem. That way we can upload pictures and save memory cards.

I'm thankful that you are bringing all of your extra rainwater Kevin. You may or may not know that most of Camanche's water goes to the east bay, so on your way to HBDC, just go steal a bunch of water from somebody's tap over there. I know at least one person you could get it from in Alameda.

The paypal system was good last year and I will send out an invoice at the end of March. If anyone wants to pay earlier than than April, please feel free to send your full hundered to hbdcpayments@gmail.com.

You can also make payments, but please read on.

There is a special payment system that must be followed to make up for the fees paypal charges, they charge about 2% when hbdc receives your money. So, when you send payments, add $2 so we can offset that nasty charge, a total of $40 for 20 attendees can go along way for other stuff.

Also, though the cost of attendance is $100, anyone is welcome to pay MORE. Your contribution will be spread evenly among everyone who goes to HBDC. No special privelages, sorry.

Happy Thursday everyone!

HBDC 3 Official First Post

Hey everyone!

All of the results are in from last years survey about HBDC2. I was really happy to see that so many buddies were involved in the process of deciding where our next event would be held.

Before revealing that bit of information I just wanted to let you know a few things about the survey. I also would like to tell you what the blog here will be updated about as the next few months go by. In short, I want to tell you where the most popular choices were for HBDC3, what people thought about the food, fun, etc. The blog itself will keep you updated about the number of people who plan to attend HBDC3, what the logo looks like, what the t-shirts will look like. All of this stuff is pretty basic, and honestly it's meant to keep you excited!

Most of the folks who were at H2 will likely be at H3. I've even heard rumors of certain people coming that would not be expected. But enough of this jargon, and on to the results.

Tentative dates for HBDC3 are August 14th to August 17th; Friday through Monday.

Here's the result of your comments on HBDC2:

For now the theme of HBDC3 is "Seriously Easy Going". We should change this though, as it came out of my head on a whim. Please post your ideas for the theme and we can vote on the best one at the beginning of the summer.

Some people wanted to cook, so we are going to have a sign-up on the blog for whoever wants to cook. We will also have a menu forum. I need someone to organize this too by the way so let me know if you are interested.

Everyone wants t-shirts again. So we're doing them.

Everyone liked the member guide. We're doing that again.

HBDC3 is going to be in August again, before school starts.

This year we will have stickers that say HBDC, you can put them anywhere after the camp out.

We will be getting two party boats this year (yes we will have more squirt guns, I bought ten more last year).

Everyone is welcome to bring other people, we aren't going to restrict invitations this year. We just need to know who you are bringing by the 15th. This is important because of the number of campsites and boats to rent. Also food!

Payment for HBDC3 will be $100 (and this year we've learned how to get more out of Ben Franklin). Each guest that you bring will also be $100. We really would appreciate full payment by June 30th to start reserving camp sites and reserving boats. If you need a special arrangement let me know.

Here's What You Get:

1. All food is paid for (3 squares)
2. Camp site is paid for.
3. Party boat is paid for.
4. Firewood is paid for.
5. Beer is paid for.
6. Your food is cooked for free!
7. An HBDC3 T-shirt
8. HBDC3 Stickers
9. HBDC2 Soundtrack CD
10. We will add snack foods this year.

There is also still room for suggestions on what we should provide as organizers of this event. If you feel that you have the time and energy to plan, help, set up, or innovate, we are always looking for good people to help.

So get ready to have a blast this Summer at HBDC3, I am so excited that its finally happening again. I've been waiting so long for this! Oh and last but not least, back by popular demand(and I mean about 90%), is Lake Camanche!

Your buddy,
Ross

Example....

I was told that some people aren't too sure what to put in the bios, I wasn't really either, so I just did a really random one. Here is an example, done by our cat Tyler, who won't be attending. But in case you ever run into him, you know a thing or two about him.

Hi, my name is Tyler and I'm about 2 or 3 years old. I really don't know. I live in Santa Cruz right now, but I'm actually from the back of some bio-med facility in Woodland. I'm currently unemployed, but I am really enjoying the time off. I used to have a high stress job, trading stocks. I used to really want to be a Pho chef, and I might go back to school for that eventually. The only real thing stopping me is the fact that I don't have opposable thumbs. In my free time, when I'm not reading the latest edition of the Onion, I enjoy crossing busy streets and tallying up how many cars I can get to slam on their brakes. I like going to the beach, eating flying insects, and finding new and mysterious places to crap, or nap in the world. I'm excellent when it comes to Poker, and I'll take any of you on, any day, and win. Bring it Bitches!

Bios!

Yay I'm the only one posting. Thank you to the 3 who got their bios in already, I know I'm the most annoying I could be, but I put them into the book format and they look so good that I'm excited to get the rest! Joel suggested I make a "Mad Libs" style format for those of you who are reluctant to make a bio. I just might do that. I want to get these bios out to everyone ASAP 'cause they are really coool.............
